Le Domaine is also a human tale, punctuated with chance meetings. Brad Pitt, owner of Château Miraval, fell in love with the unique beauty of Provence. In 2012, he began exploring the treasures of the vineyard. He worked with the Perrin family to restore Miraval, cultivating the estate’s grapevines and building a strong partnership. Spurred on by the same desire to preserve Earth and its ecosystem, to safeguard the riches of our world for future generations, Le Domaine and its distinctive approach to skin care were a natural step for them both.
“The goal is to imitate the organic cycles of nature, its primeval beauty. There is no waste in nature. Anything left over or discarded becomes food for something else. This exemplary circular system is the inspiration for Le Domaine.”
Professor Pierre-Louis Teissedre from Bordeaux University has spent the last ten years observing and studying numerous grape varietals and combinations he has identified which have the most potent antioxidant effects to treat diseases.
He specializes in the research file of grapes and wines phenolic compounds: quality, sensory, physiological, food safety and health of grape and wine, as well as winemaking and aging in the science of enology.
Professor Pierre-Louis Teissedre elaborated on Le Domaine a patented active compound* called GSM10®* with maximized antioxidative powers, redefining antioxidant efficacy in cosmetics.
«Because wine and skin care are exact sciences»

Professor Nicolas Lévy was until recently professor of Human & Medical Genetics and head of the medical genetics department in Marseille hospital. He was also director of Marseille Medical Genetics Inserm research laboratory. He dedicated the last 20 years to understand the mechanisms of pathological ageing. Dr Lévy recently left academia for a position in industry as Chief Scientist “Rare Diseases”. Together with his esteemed colleague, Professor Pierre Cau, he has been leading research on Progeria, an extremely rare genetic disease that causes children to age rapidly and they have co-founded ProGeLife - a biotech company focussed on developing medicines for rare diseases.
From their medical research, they were able to identify novel causes of human ageing and skin ageing. ProGeLife developed an active compound called ProGR3®*, capable of slowing down ageing mechanisms.
"The main biological mechanism leading to premature ageing in progeria is also at work, progressively, in human natural ageing."
Pr Nicolas Lévy
Out of these two patented* ingredients has risen a unique vision: more than just offering a line of anti-ageing treatments, Le Domaine wants to help slow the process of skin aging and give everyone, regardless of gender or skin type, the opportunity to age well.
Skin care that is truly scientific, based on bringing together renowned expertise and passionately held beliefs: this is Le Domaine.
GSM10® is based on more than 10 years of research by Professor Teissedre on the grape varieties and marcs of the Perrin family. Made from a combination of marc from Grenache seeds, Syrah seeds and skins associated with a post-biotic micro-organism beneficial to the skin microbiome, it has a proven anti-oxidant and anti-MMPs (matrix metallo-proteinases, such as collagenase, which destroys collagen) effectiveness. Its effectiveness on skin balance has also been demonstrated.
ProGR3® is the result of research on progeria and its main mechanism: progerin toxicity. Combination of 3 natural molecules present in plant extracts, vine sarments, camomile and green tea, ProGR3 has scientifically demonstrated its efficacy on the toxicity of progerin, the marker protein of ageing. It allows to fight against the visible signs of skin ageing and thus age well.
The terroir is a unique approach to the sourcing of ingredients for Le Domaine.
Key elements such as grapes and olive oil in the products have a 100% traceable origin. They are derived exclusively from the Perrin family’s lands and are also eco-extracted by natural means, by Le Domaine’s farmers.
This local approach to nature in cosmetics has a direct effect on the efficacy of the products, due in part to the unique freshness of ingredients that are picked directly from the terroir, but also their very specific properties: GSM10, the active compound with maximized antioxidative powers, is made from a combination of grape varieties carefully selected from the Perrins’ vineyards.
"Le Domaine’s terroir-based model also has an effect on the products’ ecological impact, focusing on local production and sourcing of know-hows. "
Le Domaine is built on values that come from the Earth, shared by its cofounders, the Perrin family, and Brad Pitt, with his love for Provence’s original beauty. It is an invitation to reconnect with nature and the natural rhythm of things, being attuned to the environment, its soils, its plants and its fruit. It is producing less but better, with quality products and know-hows, sourced with artisanal, local and family partners.
This is evident in Le Domaine’s dedication to green beauty, with refillable products and formulas that are 96% + 99% of natural origin and exclude ingredients that are subject of controversy regarding the environment or the natural balance of your body.
The products from Le Domaine are clean, green, and conscious. Without compromising on their efficacy.
A VERY STRICT BLACKLIST
We carefully chose our ingredients and have established a very strict blacklist excluding ingredients that are subject to controversy regarding the environment or the natural balance of the body.
NO Preservatives such as parabens,
phenoxyethanol, MIT, triclosan,
chlorphenesin, BHA & BHT
NO Micro plastics
NO Mineral and synthetic oils
NO Animal or of animal origin ingredients
NO Sulphated surfactants
Le Domaine has chosen to use products from its own land and perform the bio-extraction process itself whenever it can. And, because we can always do more and do better, Le Domaine applies this same rule to every facet of product design.
To provide rational, real proof of their efficacy, our scientific team developed radical, rigorous testing methods for all products. Our approach is combining instrumental tests and in vivo clinical trials on a large user group, conducted under dermatological supervision, with tests against placebo controls to clearly identify the source of efficacy.
Performance testing :
• antioxidant (in vitro test)
• moisturising (in vitro test, instrumental test)
• radiance (in vivo test, clinical scoring)
• anti-fatigue (in vivo test, clinical scoring)
• anti-wrinkle (in vivo test, clinical scoring,
and instrumental test)
• elasticity (in vivo test, instrumental test)
“We know that these extremely rigorous testing methods are not common in the cosmetics industry, but we couldn’t have done it any other way. It’s in our nature to be uncompromising.”
Pr Nicolas Lévy
"It is about imitating nature's organic cycles, its original beauty. In nature, there is no concept of waste. Every discarded thing becomes nourishment for another.
This is circularity for Le Domaine"
Le Domaine Essentials
In a few months, we will launch Le Domaine Essentials, a new line of products (including bath and body care) that will be available at a more accessible price point.
In sticking with Le Domaine values, Le Domaine Essentials formulation is very natural and the packaging will be minimalistic in order to limit waste.
