Le Domaine is also a human tale, punctuated by chance meetings. After falling in love with the unique beauty of Provence, Brad Pitt worked with the Perrin family to restore Miraval, cultivating the estate’s grapevines and building a strong partnership. Spurred on by the same desire to preserve Earth and its ecosystem, to safeguard the riches of our world for future generations, Le Domaine and its distinctive approach to skin care were a natural step for them both.
“The goal is to imitate the organic cycles of nature, its primeval beauty. There is no waste in nature. Anything left over or discarded becomes food for something else. This exemplary circular system is the inspiration for Le Domaine.”
Nicolas Lévy, MD, PhD is a leading researcher on progeria, an extremely rare genetic disease that causes children to age rapidly. He has dedicated the past 20 years to understand the mechanisms of pathological aging. Until recently, he was a professor of Human & Medical Genetics and head of the medical genetics department at Timone Hospital in Marseille. He was also director of Marseille Medical Genetics Inserm research laboratory.
Together with his colleague, Professor Pierre Cau, he has co-founded ProGeLife: a biotech company focussed on developing medicines for rare diseases. ProGeLife's research has identified novel causes of skin aging, leading to the development of an exclusive cosmetic active compound called ProGR3® capable of slowing down the signs of skin aging.
"The main biological mechanism leading to premature ageing in progeria is also at work, progressively, in human natural aging."
Pr Nicolas Lévy
Pierre-Louis Teissedre, PhD, is a leading expert in the science of enology and a professor at the University of Bordeaux. His research focuses on the quality of grapes, their sensorial and physiological makeup, and their phenolic compounds—the molecules that demonstrate antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities.
For the past decade, Professor Teissedre has studied the grapes of Château de Beaucastel. Through years of observing and analyzing numerous grape varietals and combinations, he has identified those that have the most potent antioxidant effects.
His research led to the creation of a patented active compound* called GSM10®.
Exclusive to Le Domaine formulas, GSM10® has maximized antioxidative powers and improves the balance of the skin (postbiotic action).
«Because wine and
skin care are exact sciences.»
Pr Pierre-Louis Teissedre
A unique vision has risen from these two patented* ingredients. More than just offering a line of anti-aging treatments, Le Domaine wants to help slow down the signs of skin aging and give everyone, regardless of gender or skin type, the opportunity to age well.
Skin care that is truly scientific, based on bringing together renowned expertise and passionately held beliefs: this is Le Domaine.
GSM10® is based on more than 10 years of research by Professor Teissedre on the grape varieties and marcs of the Perrin family vineyards. Made from a combination of marc from Grenache seeds, Syrah seeds and skins associated with a post-biotic micro-organism beneficial to the skin microbiome, this compound has impressively effective levels of antioxidants and anti-MMPs (matrix metallo-proteinases, such as collagenase, which destroys collagen). In addition, GSM10® has been demonstrated to effectively balance the skin.
ProGR3® is the result of research on progeria and its main mechanism: progerin toxicity. A combination of three natural molecules present in plant extracts - vine sarments, camomile and green tea - ProGR3® has scientifically demonstrated its efficacy on the toxicity of progerin, the marker protein of aging. It allows skin to fight against the visible signs of skin ageing and thus age well.
The terroir is a unique approach to the sourcing of ingredients for Le Domaine.
Key elements such as grapes and olive oil in the products have a 100% traceable origin. They are derived exclusively from the Perrin family’s lands and are also eco-extracted by our farmers.
This localized approach to nature in skin care has a direct effect on the efficacy of the products, due in part to the unique freshness of ingredients that are picked directly from the terroir, but also their very specific properties: GSM10, the active compound with maximized antioxidative powers, is made from a combination of grape varieties carefully selected from the Perrins’ vineyards.
"Le Domaine’s terroir-based model also has an effect on the products’ ecological impact, focusing on local production and sourcing of knowledge. "
Le Domaine is built on values that come from the earth, shared by its cofounders - the Perrin family and Brad Pitt - with their love for Provence and its beauty. It is an invitation to reconnect with nature and the natural rhythm of things, being attuned to the environment, its soils, its plants and its fruit. It is producing less but better, with quality products and knowledge, sourced with artisanal, local and family partners.
This is evident in Le Domaine’s dedication to green beauty, with formulas that are 96% - 99% of natural origin. The formulas exclude controversial ingredients that may affect the environment or the natural balance of your body.
The products from Le Domaine are clean, green, and conscious. Without compromising on their efficacy.
A VERY STRICT BLACKLIST
We carefully chose our ingredients and have established a very strict blacklist excluding controversial ingredients that may affect the environment or the natural balance of the body.
NO Preservatives such as parabens,
phenoxyethanol, MIT, triclosan,
chlorphenesin, BHA & BHT
NO Micro plastics
NO Mineral and synthetic oils
NO Animal or of animal origin ingredients
NO Sulphated surfactants
Le Domaine uses plants and materials from its own land and performs the bio-extraction process itself whenever possible.
And, because we can always do more and do better, Le Domaine applies this same rule to every facet of product design.
To provide rational, real proof of the products' efficacy, our scientific team developed radical, rigorous testing methods. Our approach combines instrumental tests and in vivo clinical trials on a large user group, conducted under dermatological supervision, with tests against placebo controls made on the fluid cream to clearly identify the source of efficacy.
Performance testing :
• antioxidant (in vitro test)
• moisturizing (in vitro test, instrumental test)
• radiance (in vivo test, clinical scoring)
• anti-fatigue (in vivo test, clinical scoring)
• anti-wrinkle (in vivo test, clinical scoring,
and instrumental test)
• elasticity (in vivo test, instrumental test)
“We know that these extremely rigorous testing methods are not common in the cosmetics industry, but we couldn’t have done it any other way. It’s in our nature to be uncompromising.”
Pr Nicolas Lévy
"It is about imitating nature's organic cycles, its original beauty. In nature, there is no concept of waste. Every discarded thing becomes nourishment for another.
This is circularity for Le Domaine"
